Lomsnes Veterinary Hospital is offering a new program called Optimum Care that allows you to pay monthly for your pet’s preventative health care over the year. Keeping your pets healthy and preventing illness is the best way to provide a happy and long life for your furry companion, and the team at Lomsnes Veterinary Hospital is committed to helping you do that!
There are different options for you to choose from, depending on the needs of your pet over the year. A team member can help choose the right plan for your pet and all plans include five examinations by a veterinarian, routine vaccinations, and unlimited nail trims!
Puppy/Kitten Basic
This plan includes 3 sets of vaccines and examinations – at 8, 12, and 16 weeks of age and deworming for roundworms and hookworms.
Puppy/Kitten Enhanced
Includes everything in the basic plan, plus a spay (female) or neuter (male) surgery, and pre-anesthetic bloodwork prior to the surgery. The bloodwork allows us to assess your pet’s organ functions to ensure they can properly metabolize the anesthetic drugs, and also gives us a baseline of their bloodwork to compare with future results.
Adult Dog/Cat Basic
This plan includes annual vaccines as well as a basic wellness blood panel to assess organ function. A regular wellness panel allows your veterinarian to diagnose diseases in their early stage when intervention is likely to have the greatest outcome.
Adult Dog/Cat Enhanced
This plan includes everything in the Basic package, plus a dental cleaning. This is for pets that will need a dental cleaning in the next year. 80% of pets over the age of three years have dental disease, and as it progresses, it causes pain and infection and negatively impacts a pet’s quality of life. Regular dental cleanings can prevent tooth decay and costly tooth extractions, and extend a pet’s lifespan.
For senior pets (dogs and cats >7 years old), the basic wellness blood panel can be upgraded to a senior blood panel and urinalysis for an additional cost (PLUS feature). This allows your veterinarian to assess thyroid function, and more thoroughly evaluate liver and kidney function – all of which can be compromised in ageing pets.
The five exams included in all the plans encourage you to bring your pet in sooner rather than later when a problem arises. Some owners wait too long to seek medical attention when their pet is ill, hoping their pet will get better on its own so they can avoid a veterinary examination fee. Unfortunately, this can prove disastrous. Many conditions are treatable in the early stages but become very difficult if not impossible to treat when the condition is allowed to fester.
Optimum Care clients also get additional savings on all other products and services, including food, medications, and other diagnostic tests.
Ultimately, we work hard to provide veterinary care to your furry family members. We truly care about our patients and want them to live happy and healthy lives. We are excited to be offering our clients the Optimum Care program, and believe it will be a great option for many pet owners.
