Do you pick up after your dog has a bowel movement on a walk? Do you clean your cat’s litter box? I am sure your answer is yes!
Collecting a stool sample from your dog or cat is as easy as picking up after they have a bowel movement and bringing that sample to our Veterinary Hospital. A fresh sample is best, and it can even stay in the bag you collected it in!
Checking your dog or cat’s stool is an excellent diagnostic tool and can tell your veterinarian many things. When we are looking at a stool sample, we are checking for internal parasites and bacteria such as E.coli, salmonella, and many more, which can be the cause of diarrhea or loose stools.
If your dog or cat has mucus or blood in their stool, it is loose, or they have diarrhea, it is not normal. If they have any of these symptoms, please contact Lomsnes Veterinary Hospital, and we can help your pet with all their problems.
